Not a direct answer, but a related subject... If your environment is subject to DoD restrictions related to data classification, then you may wish to ensure you have the warranty uplift for non-returnable disks. NetApp cannot accept returned disks under warranty that have been degaused or otherwise modified to purge data to satisfy classification requirements, as this will nullify their warranty with the OEM manufacturer (it is well known that NetApp is a software company and their disks are - or at least were - all Seagate or IBM). You will be charged for replacement disks, if you do not purchase this uplift.
