Given there are no single tape devices that will likely top the maximum throughput available on a fast-wide parallel SCSI connection, moving to FC won't buy you much.
If you say wanted to go from two devices to four, then, yes FC might be a suitable move. I'm not aware yet of (m)any tape devices that do FC natively - most currently require the use of a FC-parallel-SCSI 'bridge' (they're SCSI routers to afficionados).

Then the costs and difficulties in using FC tape hardware outweigh the benefits.
