Is it true that netapp cannot process a perfstat that is over25m. IBM asked me to run a perfstat for an extended period, after I captured the event they told me 80mb was too large (while compressed) and I had to redo the capture and ensure it is under 25m.
Thanks,

Yeah, I think they are saying the perfstat view will not load it. I am currently looking to see if I can manually break up the file at the right points.

So..it's still text and looks good?
Maybe ask for someone that can read a perfstat and not lean on a tool.
This shouldn't be your problem.

Thanks for the replies, http://support.netapp.com/NOW/download/tools/perfstat/perfstat7.shtml
The official docs on netapp site even use “perfstat -f filer1 -t 30 -i 46 > perfstat.$date.out” as an example to take a 24 hour perfstat. Which is certainly going to result in a very large file.

I believe that the web tool provided by netapp to facilitate the review of perfstat information by support and resellers like IBM has a size limitation for web uploads.
I think this is what IBM is referencing with their size limitation request.
Instead of doing a lot of iterations, you can script multiple smaller perfstats in succession with a while loop to better stay within this limit and keeping analysis manageable for IBM by allowing them to use that tool.
