Would someone from netapp let us know if that there is a facility and a level that we can set in the etc/syslog.conf file which would produce the Read sector error messages.
Also is there a way you can kill -HUP the syslogd process so it will re-read the configuration file?

It is our understanding that the message has been removed entirely and cannot be gotten through syslogd at any level. This is confirmed by our experience. We have syslog.conf set for all messages at the info level (*.info). This is also the default if you don't have a configuration file I believe.
With respect to the daemon, I believe that the documentation indicates that the file is reread by the daemon within 30 seconds or so of the configuration file being modified.
