We are considering using a filer to provide the message stores for our Netscape (soon to be iPlanet) Messaging Server. Of course, neither Netscape (iPlanet) nor NetApp supports such a configuration. Can anyone offer relevant insight or experience?

For a couple of years we have been using a similarly unsupported configuration to provide storage space for Rational ClearCase. While we've had no insuperable problems, I don't relish the prospect of hitting a brick wall on those rare occasions when we request support--for the application, not the configuration.
