Michael,
I have tried to do something very similar to this although I have not used the SecureShare Quota Manager and do not anything about it. I do however know that although OnTap 6.1 supports SID based quotas it only suports this for users. It does not support SID Group quotas. Does the SecureShare Quota Manager get by this? If so it is something I proably need to look at, If not then I do not believe what you are trying to accomplish can be done.

Has anyone had experience setting up quota's on a filer running 6.1R1 using SecureShare Quota Manager 2.0
What I would like to do is have 3 levels of quota's (High - 500Mb, Medium - 350Mb, Low - 200Mb) established. These would be established via a Global group in Windows NT. For example: you are a member of the Medium Global Group you would receive a home directory with a quota of 350Mb. We have approximately 2000 users and I would rather manage the quota system based on being a member of a Global Group if possible.
The volumes will be configured as CIFS
Has anyone had experience setting up quota's to work with NT Global Groups and if so, is there any thing special to look out for?

I can't comment on SecureShare quota Manager, but you're idea on the way group quotas works is incorrect.
A group quota limits the amount of disk or number of files that a group may use on a given volume or qtree. What was asked about is the creation of individual user quotas based on templates assigned via groups. To my knowledge, this is impossible accept by an external script/program which manually creates user quotas based on group membership, on a periodic basis.
You can setup one default quota per quota type (user, group, and qtree) which limits the amount of disk or number of files that any quota target (user, group, or qtree) that is *not* explicitly named in the quota file. That is to say, you could set a default user quota at the "medium" level of 350MB. Then manually create and maintain quota entries for everyone who should have a different disk quota (those with "high" level of 500MB, "low" level of 200MB, or something different). Anyone not explicitly mentioned by the manually created and maintained entries will get the default quota of 350MB.
There are various strategies for setting the default depending on your goal. If you'd like to have the smallest quota file possible (for ease of management), pick the disk quota which is most common and make it the default. If you'd like to restrict new users/groups/qtrees to small "probationary" quotas, set the default low.
After managing between 6,000 and 12,000 user quota entries for the past few years on home directories, I can say that any approach will probably work equally fine. The reality is that most users (especially NT) tend not to store much data in their home directory. Those that do are a small fraction and will probably ask for extra space. It isn't uncommon for us to overbook user quotas on our filers by 600-800% of the amount of disk available and we've never really had a problem running out.
Of course, your environment may differ. In any case, good luck!
