An F740 that has been powered off for over a year has some data I would like to recover. The system boots, but complains about low nvram batteries, and halts. Is there a way I can bypass this shutdown to copy some things off?

By a quick search it looks like the battery in question is just a button cell. a standard CR2450 lithium 3V. a quick trip past a drug store would fix it as well if you don't find a software way around it...

I think on those platforms, leaving it at the OK prompt, charges the battery. Let the battery charge, and it should boot. Otherwise I think "clear-post-results" at the ok prompt, will let the sucker boot.
Hope that helps,

Depending on the OS, there was a ctrl-c to bypass that, but your version may be too old. The other option is just let is charge overnight and see. Worse case, pull the NVRAM and find compatible batteries.
Share and enjoy!

Do you have the option to login quickly and change the options raid.timeout to something much higher?

isn't that the sc-32 ??? battery that you can get at most stores?
I don't think it will boot without a charged battery

Thanks everyone for all the great replies.
It seems the existing batteries are not charging, so I will try to replace them.
Many thanks!!!
