Our hosting provider has different rates for power depending on how backup power supplies are used, can anyone shed some light on how Netapp power supplies work?
Do the dual power-supplies on F740 and F760 filers both draw power when plugged in, or does one draw power and the other remain inactive until a failure occurs?

The power supplies are redundant, not active/passive. They both draw power and contribute to the system, with either one capable of powering the system in the event one of them fails.
