You provided no password. Try:
ndmpcopy netmmc:/vol/vol1/projects/nguc netmmc:/vol/vol2/nguc -sa root:<password-source-filer> -da root:<password-dest-filer>
The root password is the one you use to login when you telnet to the filer ...

Hi,
On the new version of ndmpcopy you do not need to supply the passwd on the command line, but rather you are prompted for it.
BTW, I also tried the old method mentioned below, and had the same result.

Did you make sure "ndmpd on" was on the filer? What is the OS of the UNIX box? Did you modify the source code in any way?

Hi,
Yes, I made sure that ndmpd was on. The OS is solaris 2.7 (106541-12) No I did not do any modifications to the source code.

One way to prove it is not a password problem is to remove the passwd's alltogether from both nodes that you are copying to <--> from and try it again. If it works after your completely remove the passwd's then it was a password problem. (To remove the password completely just issue the "passwd" command and give empty strings as the new password). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mike Smith Network Appliance Escalations Engineer 408-822-4755 mikesmit@netapp.com Get your answers on http://now.netapp.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: Timothy A.
