Our netapp clusters started life on 8.2.x and have now all been upgraded to 9.1, we have a lot of vlans set up in the Default broadcast domain which are flagged on the now site as something which should now be split out.
This looks to be a simple enough thing to do using "broadcast-domain split" but I cannot see anything in the docs to say if this is disruptive to any connected systems. While I have been able to split a couple of ports off on our sandpit where the lifs seemed to have no problems and didn't drop a ping I just wanted to see if anyone can say if we might see any issues if a lif on the vlan ports being split ?

That should be non-disruptive as you are not actually modifying the interfaces up/down actual config. Just the failover info.
So, use the broadcast-domain split and join commands. They WILL NOT work if you have subnets defined. You may need to remove the subnets until you have everything set up the way you want.
just remember to VERIFY at the end:
net int show -failover
YOu are looking to make sure all Data SVM LIFs have a failover-policy of broadcast-domain-wide. node management should be local
When you run the "net int show -failover" command you should see the failover policy and the ports ONTAP will try. Make sure they are what you expect.
When you are all done, you should be able to remove any "failover groups" that are not broadcast domains. When a broadcast-domain is created, it makes a failover group with the same name. Hence, if the failover group exists, but the broadcast domain does not, you should be able to delete it.
Just recheck the interfaces as you go and especially when you are done!

Cheers all swapped over with no problems. I didn’t have to remove subnets just manually move the lif to the new failover group.
