Hello; Check out Microsoft QArticle 250267, which talks about using some resource kit utilities; getsid and subinacl. Using these utilities, there isn't a problem migrating local security group ACLs from one server to another. We utilized this procedure when migrating data to our filer, and worked well - though it can take a long time, depending on the amount of data. Is a good idea to run one process per group at the same time, and not do them one after the other. Cheers, -Adrian

Only problem with ROBOCOPY comes to bear when migrating data where LOCAL groups are used in file level ACL's because the SID is different across filers.
SecureCopy properly handles this, by creating a new group and then migrating the ACL to the new SID.

We have never had a problem with Robocopy and have migrated over 2 TB of data. Make sure you get the latest version and use the /SEC option

I am a rookie on NetApp filers so this may be an easy one for some. I have an F840 filer with mapped NT 4 drives. I used ROBOCOPY.EXE to copy the data to the NetApp box so that file permissions would be maintained. I then went back to my NT box and mapped a drive to the NetApp box. Everything appeared to be fine. I then logged out of the NT box and logged in under a new user ID and all of the NT file permissions were lost. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to maintain these permissions when admins log out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
