I'm off network so I can't research this, but want to ensure that I can expand a LUN for Exchange on the fly, no downtime. Plan to use SnapDrive 5.0. Volume is already large enough in capacity.
Thanks!!
Best regards, Kevin M. Parker

Hi Kevin, I am not shure about Exchange, but I can report this:
I recently expanded a LUN with SnapDrive 5.0 which was in use as a Windows Cluster disk. The expansion worked on the fly in about a second, the cluster had no failover, clients had no issues. I would expect Exchange also has no problem with the resize of a LUN while running on it. with kind regards Knut Weber
This is possible with Snapdrive, not possible without it.

If you are on W2K3 System why bother with snapdrive. We resize our LUNs with the normal procedures on the filer via the web or cli. To expand the filesystem we use the built-in diskpart utility which does that for free without downtime (unless it is not the Windows system partition but i don´t think that you host your databases there ;-) ).
Regards
Wolfgang

If you use SnapDrive to create the lun, you should always use SnapDrive to expand it, or the space could show up as unallocated.
