There are many different ways of using home directories in ONTAP 6.x like Paul mentioned. It is one of the cooler new features from a CIFS point of view.
They are covered extensively in the ONTAP 6.0 Web Based Training (shameless plug) ... or you can always read the System Administrators Guide for ONTAP 6 on the NOW site ;)
