Hi,
there are a few bugs in the release which caused NetApp to withdraw it from NOW. As far as I know 7.2.6P1 will be released next week.

Has anyone deployed 7.2.6.1?
It is GD but wanted to get some feedback - I had a lot of problems with 7.2.6 but it resolved my backup pains so I didn't down grade.
Thanks.

Personally, I'm waiting for this one to cook a little longer (safely hiding behind 7.2.5.1p6). If you're already running 7.2.6 I'd say there isn't a lot of downside for you to upgrade, in fact I'd recommend it as there are some pretty nasty panic situations that might affect you. (see below)
1. Bug ID 267622: This can panic the storage controller during boot if an error causes a not-fully-initialized syslogd to need to report the problem, and/or if any of the following conditions match: -Lookup of a hostname specified in the /etc/syslog.conf file fails -The root volume is full -The /etc/syslog.conf file is misconfigured and contains invalid entries
2. Bug ID 318070: This affects only FAS270 systems with expansion shelves using ESH4 modules and where there are issues or configuration changes with those shelves. This results in a panic of the FAS270 storage controller.
3. Bug ID 324637: Under some circumstances, if a file with Windows NT ACL (access control list) is opened for overwrite by a CIFS client on a storage controller, it can cause a panic. This requires a high load on the system for quotas to be enabled, and for a Windows NT ACL to be associated with the file that is opened for overwrite by a CIFS client. Due to the high load, the Windows NT ACL buffer could potentially be recycled before it is used, leading to a panic.

We are currently running 7.2.4 on a pair of 3040 filers and considering upgrading if there are reduplication improvements, but currently we don't have any panics or known problems. Are the waters safe with 7.2.6.1 or 7.3.1 lately, I haven't heard any complaints in a few months? Anything to watch out for?

There is a bug I know of with 7.3.1 and 10gigE. I'd wait for 7.3.2 if you're using them.

we are using 10GBE and 7.3.1 under heavy load with no issues and even under netapp guidance. i saw the BURT but we couldnt get our or any support to actually explain to us what the issue was or how it was triggered.
i did however see several people having tons of issues with 7.2.6 on the lists that left me not feeling good about that release.

We are running 7.3.1 with 10Gig ethernet, it has been stable, although from one bit of our network we where getting bad performance but turning toe off seemed to make that issue disappear. With toe turned on with 7.2.?? the systems where unusable.
I believe I am not hitting this issue because i utilize vifs and viftrunks which disable the TOE portion. So far we have had zero performance or issues with 7.3.1 and 10GBE

I've done the bump from 7.2.4P5 to 7.3.1P2 on our two 3040 clusters and a stand alone 3040. No issues or scary bugs to report so far. A couple annoyances with the 7.2.x train have completely gone away (issues with netgroup and multistore, mbufs, dedupe glitches, and the notorious quota problems with 7.2.5) I haven't seen those at all.

We're in a similar situation. 7.2.4 on a pair of 3040 clusters. NetApp tech support is recommending we move to 7.2.6.1 which we hope to get a window next month.
7.3.1 was not recommended to us (for SnapVault reasons), we've been advised to wait until 7.3.2.

We've been using 7.2.6.1 on a 3050 cluster for a little over a month now with no problems, though we don't currently use any asis on our cluster.
