I wanted to let this list know that one of my groups priorities is removing javascript, frames and cookies from the NOW site. We heard from most of you that have terminals in colo cages and secure sites and started working on this issue.
Your comments regarding pro-active notification are also being looked at as a new feature of the NOW site. In the interim, our Installed Base Group should be contacting your organization regarding contract renewal well before contract expiration. Make sure your Personal Profile is up to date in NOW so we can contact you. http://now.netapp.com/Self-Service/Custom/editProfile.asp
We will have Javascript removed from the login page and will remove the javascript toolbar and frame by 2/24. So on 2/24 if you don't have javascript enabled you will be able to login and navigate the site.
Moving away from cookies is a longer term goal because it is an infrastructure change- but we have it on the road map for the next 3-6 months.
Additionally, we implemented an interim step that allowed for downloads...
Customers who were previously unable to download software because of a text-only browser or browser that does not have Javascript or cookies enabled will now be able to download software through an alternative URL (http://download.netapp.com/). Here they will find the latest software releases and tools and will be able to download software quickly and easily. Here's how:
1) Go to http://download.netapp.com/ 2) Click on the 'Login' link 3) The next page will take you directly to the software download page.
Just click on the Software or Firmware link to begin.

Here is a cosmetic item that is just a nuscauce.
The new style uses a dark blue bar in several places. The problem is, is that some bars do have text on them, and that text is "black".
I have very good vision, and I have to select the text on the bar, (so its color will be inverted) just so I can read it.
For a sample, go to 'Personal Info' -> 'Customize' and try to read the text on the dark blue bar, under the word Customize. (btw: It's "Section Content")

Sorry to be a pain, but I have done this at least once before, weeks ago, and the address for our company is still wrong. I just tried to change it again, now, and after clicking the "save" button, it returns me to the NOW home page, with no indication or confirmation of a change. I *think* it used to say "your changes have been submitted to..." (So, I hope it took this time.) Why not have the information updated *immediately* so if I click on my profile again, it's there? Why do the changes have to be submitted anywhere?
Also, each time I open a new case, I have to correct and fill in missing information for my filers. Where on NOW can we update this information?
Keep up the improvements! It's generally getting better and better each month.
