Thanks for your help, but unfortunately that's not what's my problem. It was done already and there is obviously more wrong here. Either a DLL is not okay or something else in the registry isn't what it's supposed to be. I have been messing with LM/NTLM authentication, SMB signing and other things that are supposed to improve the security of inter-NT communications. My guess is that something in the way NT handles CIFS that isn't supported by NetApp isn't switched off after I turned it on.
I think I'll just go for a clean install as soon as I can get all my settings and other stuff backed up.
