ONTAP has no NIS+ client code.

You must use NIS+ in yp compatibility mode, e.g rpc.nisd -Y. Even then you'll run into problems, i.e. netapp implemented NIS fairly poorly (It didn't implement it completely, but patched a couple of major problems in the P and D releases). I asked NetApp to implement NIS+, but they did not plan to do it. They hinted at implementing LDAP in the future.
