Ideally, I'd like to see NetApp offer some dedicated media for root volumes in future systems. Just a pair of PCMCIA slots on the head, with a pair of mirrored (or WAFL'd) 1gb flash disks. Plenty of room for the small space needs of the root volume, and you don't lose the many gigs of disk space when you lose 2 x 36/72gb disks.
Seems like a simple thing to do, esp since the PCMCIA are already hot swappable, etc.
