As the proud owners of two F520s, we were a bit surprised to discover that netapp is discontinuing software support for them at the end of this month. Particularly since nothing was said about that when we paid up for our annual software support contract a few months ago...
The webpage at NOW http://now.netapp.com/NOW/products/eoa/ says a customer letter was sent out about this on 6/29/99, but no one here seems to have gotten a copy. Now fortunately the small print seems to imply the real drop-dead date isn't for another two years, but still, this is not the sort of thing we like to learn from browsing the web. Particularly not *after* the boss has pitched the next 3-years-worth of major purchases to the financial powers that be!
So those of you who have a F520 or two humming away in the back room might doublecheck that the netapp EOL department has your current mailing address :(
