Hi Scott, Thanks for the info. I think that I'd rather get another SCSI adapter in the NetApp. I was looking at one of Qlogic's cards because that's what NetApp uses, here is the card that I'm thinking about getting. http://www.qlogic.com/products/ultra_series/ultra_three.asp Let me know if you think this would work. quotas on 6.2

Do you also experience strange quota output on a client? Filesystem usage quota limit timeleft files quota limit timeleft /f/admini 0 2147483644 1048576 0 -1 -1 No matter what I put in quotas file, it always appears like that. So far (in 6.1) it looked like: /f/admini 0 1048576 1048576 0 -1 -1 Which is not so misleading. I know soft quota is not meant to work over NFS as over UFS, but at least it could show up nicer. p.

How would I get this thing to work with my F760. Is there another card I can buy for the Net App? I set the loaders SCSI ID to 0 and the drive to 1 and I have also tried other combinations also, keeping in mind that the SCSI card in the F760 uses ID 7. When I boot the filer up it just hangs after it checks the memory. If I unplug the autoloader it boots up with no problems. The autoloader is terminated and all connections are good. The NDMP message send to the Filer (NDMP_DATA_START_RECOVER) specifies a field named nlist, which is an array of filenames to be recovered. Therefor the maximum number of nlist entries restricts the number of files that can be recovered per message. Please note that this is the NDMP protocol. A clever backup application can get around this limitation but it looks that there are very few (or no) clever backup applications available. I would cd to the last directory dump was working on and run "find . -print" and look for something fishy like a long string of directories. You'll probably have to rm -r the whole mess. I have the last inum that was being written before the failure, so I attempting to run a find in the directory it was working on. However that fails too. The veritas guys were not clear on how this command should be run. I am currently using a mounted directory on a Unix client. Will this be able to find a specific inode on the Netapps? However, it is possible and entirely legal to create directory structures that are so deep that the absolute path name to a file is longer than 1024. To get around this, you usually "cd" down into the directory tree and use relative path names. But many dump utilities insist on listing each file as an absolute path name, and this is usually limited to 1024 bytes. Evidently "find" is also unhappy about your long file name. If you have any deep directory trees, or any directories with long names, then I suggest that you cd into the directory and run find . -inum ... from there. It's possible that someone may have inadvertently created a very deep directory tree due to a programming error of some sort. It very easy to do: while :; do mkdir trouble cd trouble done This will create trouble/trouble/trouble/trouble/ ... until the user hits a disk quota or the file system runs out of resources. Is there any way to disable http, so only https works? It's easy to enable ssh and disable telnet, but how to accomplish similar for na_admin with http (I have no http licenses, only na_admin). p.
