CDOT change SNMP traphost port?

Hi folks, Does anyone know whether it's possible to set CDOT 8.2.3 up to send SNMP traps to a traphost using a specific port number? I tried system snmp traphost add xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx and it didn't work. I googled around a bit on this subject and couldn't find any results either. Thanks! Broken file on CIFS Share

Hey there, I've never seen something like this before, so maybe someone can help me with that. I do have a file on a CIFS share which can be deleted on a windows client accessing this file, but it immediately reappears after you hit F5 in the explorer window. On the filer itself (7-mode installation), I can also see this file: netapp02*> ls "/vol/CIFS_SHARES/some/folder/structure" . .. file01.jpg I've mounted this share on a linux system and there it looks like this: # ls -l ls: Access to file01.jpg not possible: File or directory does not exist total 0 -????????? ? ? ? ? ? file01.jpg I'm not sure where this is coming from and how to fix that - any ideas? CIFS Migration - 7.3.7 to 8.3.2

Hello Fellow Admins Sorry for the long email. I'm planning a migration of CIFS data from a FAS2020 (7.3.7) to a FAS2552 (CDOT 8.3.2). I'd like to share my rough migration plan and see if anyone has advice/cautions/optimisations to share. In my case, I don't need to just migrate the share data, I also need to split the data on the single CIFS source volume to several volumes on two SVMs on the destination cluster. Luckily, I also have a 7-mode system running 8.2.4 (FAS2240-2) at my disposal. My rough plan is as follows: 1. Qtree-SM the various departmental subfolders from FAS2020:/vol/cifsvol/folder[1,2,3,..] to FAS2240:vFiler[1,2]:/vol/cifsvol[1,2,3,...]. These subfolders aren't Qt's but my understanding is that this is possible. 2. During a maintenance window, update the QSMs, break, create shares, re-point DFS folder targets, etc. 3. Upgrade vFiler volumes to 64-bit (I believe this happens automatically). 4. Use 7MTT or manual transition-SM relationships to sync the data from the FAS2240 to the cluster SVMs. 5. During a second maintenance window, update the SMs, break, re-point DFS folder targets, etc. 6. Cleanup the FAS2020 and send it to live on a farm somewhere. Of course, we could just setup the new SVMs & vols and use a tool like Robocopy to migrate the data but we feel more comfortable using storage level functions if possible. Does anyone have any thoughts on the above? I'm about to start running through this process with test data and I'm hoping your advice/experiences might help me on my way. Thanks in advance. Steve

Issue with CIFS shares and .temp files

Hi I am the administrator of a c mode filer for one of my companies customers and the customers are having some issues with CIFS shares. This issue is that they are getting .temp files left in all folders of the share regardless of the application used which they think are creating a mess and are manually removing. Is there anything that can be checked or changed on the storage end to change this behavior or is it more likely to be an issue somewhere else ? super secret flags

Hi people Just out of idle curiosity, am I the only netapp admin who does not know about the super secret flags to allow snapmirror to actually work at reasonable speed? We were running 8.3.2 cluster mode, and spent weeks looking into why our snapmirrors to our remote site ran so slowly. We were often 2 days behind over 40G networks. Obviously, we focussed on network issues. And we wasted a lot of time. We could make no sense of the problem at all since sometimes it appears to work ok, the later the transfers slowed to a crawl. We eventually opened a case and it did not take to long for a reply which basically said "why don't you just disable the global snapmirror throttle." I had already looked into such a beast, but found nothing. As you may or may not know, it turns out to be a per node setting. The name of the flag is repl_throttle_enable. Of course, you can only see such flags or change them on the node, in privileged mode. Setting the flag to 0 immediately (and I do mean immediately) allowed our snapmirrors to run at the speed you might expect over 40G. Instead of taking 2 days, snapmirror updates now took 2 hours. We have since upgraded to 9.1. The flags reverted to on, but again can be set to off. I think there is a documented global snapmirror throttle option in 9.1, but I have not looked into that yet. Are we the only site in the world to have seen this issue? We use snapmirror DR for all our mirrors which may be a factor. As I said, just idle curiousity and maybe helping someone avoid the time wasting we had. Dell SCv2020 supported disks type

IBM nSeries autosupport not working over HTTPS

We just had a disk failure on a nSeries box. No big deal. Usually when a problem come up, autosuport gets sent, and IBM nSeries support shoots us an email back within minutes to work on the problem. This time I had nothing from them for hours. So I ran a manual autosupport and opened a case. IBM responded almost immediately. He said they had my manually sent autosupport but said it was corrupt and unusable. Hmmmmmmm We use HTTPS for autosupport since SMTP failed due to attachments being too big for our email setup. He asked me to change to SMTP and run autosupport again, which I did, and he got it and it was good. Interesting, the attachments must have made it through. Now, the fun . . . He said they hadn't received a autosupport since 12/19/2016. It's a known problem within IBM and they haven't been able to fix. My impression is that anyone using HTTPS autosupport is affected. He thinks changing to HTTP will fix it if we don't want SMTP. I have to open another case to get more info. So, autosupports haven't been working for over a month, the problem is within IBM, and nothing was said!!!! Can I say that we are just a little upset? Ontap Select-a couple of questions

Hello everybody, I'm planning to setup a 9.1 Ontap Select single node for demo and tests. I've read that prerequisites are almost strict. They ask for at least 8 HDDs and 2 TB + 266 GB hd space on the internal VMFS datastore where to put the Select vmdk. For demo I don't have such a server, there's enough RAM and cores but just few hdds Raid 5 protected. Do you think I could set up Select with no issues or there's some soft/hard lock that avoid to do it if less than 8 hdds are found? The secondo question is this. Times ago I was reading somewhere that Select could be supported on a VSAN datastore too. Do you have some news about this? Regards,

System attention LED

Hi there, I have two filers (1x FAS2240 and 1x FAS2650) and both have the system attention LED lit and I have no idea why. `System health status show` as well as config advisor are both A-OK and there are no visible indicators why this LED is still lit. Any idea how to find out the root cause of this LED on the front bezel or how I can check or maybe reset the status of the LED through CLI?
