CDOT snapshot thoughts

So, I have a user who want me to turn of snapshots, and delete the old ones, across about 100 areas, all of over 10TB in size. No problem says I….. then my poor brain starts to think about how I could do this using the available policies. A colleague suggested altering the specific protection policy applied to these areas, so that the policy has zero snapshots kept, with the thought that it would slowly ‘age them out’. Turns out not, or that’s the way it looks at the moment. So, I’m left with a couple of options, basically, manually delete all the snapshots via script, and turn off snapshotting completely on those areas, and reduce the snap reserve to zero…..or hope the policy will do some magic for me overnight. showmount plugin for CMOD

I have installed and used showmount plug-in in the past.But it does not work on new cluster and SVM'sI guess I forgeting a step..I am asuming it is using ssh/http/https connection?I see a difference in the ports between working and notAm I correct? Do I need to enable some services? sanlun on Windows?

Guys, Trying to map LUNs presented to a Windows host back to the source Netapp Volume/Lun using something equivilent to the 'sanlun' command I can use on Unix systems. I tried installing the Windows HUK (Host Utilities Kit) but burried in the release notes is a cute little statment that 'sanlun' isn't available on there. Is there *any* tool which I can use from Windows to show me the Netapp volume and lun name from the Windows side of things? Thanks, John

If the volume is snapmirrored be careful about wild cards, and forcing deletion of all snapshots. If so, you may want to include something like "-snapshot !snapmirror" -Jeff ********************************************************** Electronic Mail is not secure, may not be read every day, and should not be used for urgent or sensitive issues

CDOT events and monitoring with unified manager

Hi folks, I'm looking at using unified manager to manage alerting for CDOT. Does anyone know whether it will immediately perform the defined action when the event is issued by the storage, or does it have to wait 15 minutes for a sync?

Thanks for the clarification and no, these systems aren't licensed for SnapDrive, nor are the Filers (a 8.1.x 7-mode HA pair). Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to look into this. I forgot to mention that I'm not a Windows admin, but always willing to learn. I'm a Unix/Linux and Netapp storage guy.
