This is probably a silly question, but what is the most reliable way to get a list of NFS clients that have an export mounted? OnTap 7.3.3, and the share is exported R/W to the world. is the filer "telnet' command

I need to check if the firewall is open between filers on snapmirror ports. I cannot find a "telnet" command so I can telnet from fi ler to to filer on specific port. How do I check from filer CMD line if the ports on the snapmirror partner are open Thanks!

DOT 8.1.1 CM and CIFS 2.x

Hi all, do you any idea about the "real" meaning of that "no" in the CM colum, last row? No "fpolicy" means as example that I can't use Enterprise Vault File System Archiving? Monitoring and scan features such the one offered by Varonis or Symantec Data Insight? File blocking policies suche the one offered by NSS or NTP QFS? All those software that use fpolicy? No "VSS" means that is not possible to access to the snapshot area of shares/foleders/files using the MMC? (right click, previous version ecc) This worries myself. Ciao! Expand SATA aggregate or buy SAS disks

Hi, We have a small metrocluster with 2TB SATA disks in DS14mk2 trays, mostly used for VMware. We desperately need more IOPs, and are tossing up another 14x2TB SATA tray, which would have the benefit of just expanding the aggregate, vs 12 of 600GB 15krpm SAS (half a DS4243), which would give more IOPs but be more admin overhead since we'd have to move VMs amongst the shelves. Capacity isn't a problem, and when we built the metrocluster the ATTO 6500N fibre bridge wasn't available, so SATA was our only option at the time. We're getting quotes for both options, but does anyone have an opinion on expanding the SATA aggregate vs setting up a new SAS one? Arp broadcasts from single vifs

Greetings, I thought I posted about this a while back but don't seem to be able to find anything in my email or web searches. My apologies if this is a duplicate. We have some 7.3.5.1P4 filers running static multimode vifs, combined into a second level single vif for failover. One vif has 4 or 6 1gig links, and the other is a 10gig network port. We use the prefer to run the 10gig as the primary. All this seems to work fine and pulling cables, etc fails over properly. My question is whether there is another way to set up a failover configuration where the inactive links are not broadcasting the "who has xxx" arp requests every 5-6 seconds? With 20 standby links, this generates ~345K broadcast per day. This is causing arpwatch to create a very large file and be moderately useless due to the noise. We do have switches that could do LACP/dynamic multimode, but the network guide says these cannot be put in a second level vif. After opening support cases at netapp one of the engineers told me that they also gets alot of performance cases with this release an even though he can't find a bug that feets with our logs and perfstat he recommend upgrade to 8.1.1rc1 Following his advise after upgrade I saw major performance improvment I mean throughput went up from 70-80 MB/s to 250-300 MB/s and latency also went down The same result occurred on more then one 8.1 system after upgrade to 8.1.1rc1 I saw at least 50% improvment in throughput Today on new system I install I completely skip th GA version an go straight to 8.1.1rc1 So my advice if you on this release and suffering from performance and don't know if you have enough disks or the right controller upgrade first then check Sent from Samsung Mobile

Hi all As a netapp ASP I spent quite alot of my time installing netapp's at costumers site and resolving their issues and I wanted to share my recent experience with 8.1 Usually I try to avoid RC release but until recently the fas22xx didn't gave us much choice Once the 8.1 GA released I felt more free to install this release. but after I started to get performance complains from my costumers I wasn't so sure After investigating some of the complains I felt that they are justified something is off in system I can't put my finger on it but its looks the system don't perform as expected even though the system don't look busy. ndmpcopy from 6.x to 8.1

Has anyone used ndmpcopy to migrate volumes from ontap 6.5 to 8.1 without going through any intermediate steps? The 8.1 docs say qtree snapmirror doesn't support source volumes prior to 6.5, so I'm looking for success stories on possible alternatives in case it doesn't work as advertised. rsync takes a long long time, but it works fine. This is all linux data, nfs. -Jon
