Farewell all!

Well, it is with deep regret that I bid all you toasters a fond farewell. I'd like to say that I appreciate all the help during the time that our 740 served us for about 8 years. The 740 was a fine device and NetApps support was top-notch. After a very lengthy discussion over several months, we went to another storage solution. By the way, if anyone is interested in the 740 maxxed at 1TB raw and includes a spares kit with motherboard and misc other parts that were never used, send me an email. It is located in the Southern Indiana area. First come, first serve. You have to arrange for transport. If I don't hear anything from anyone by the end of the week, it's going to the recycler. Thanks again to all. FC Lun creation/connection problems from W2K3

Toasters, I am having a heck of a time creating and connecting luns from a Windows 2003 Server. I have installed the latest and greatest Snapdrive and DSM on the system, and I'm running Single_image cfmode on a FAS3020C with ontap 7.2.2. Also, I am using dual Emulex LP10000 HBAs on my hosts. When I attempt to create new luns in Snapdrive, the system creates the luns (i can see the IGroups and luns in filerview) but then it times out trying to reconnect to those luns. After this I can see the Luns in the HBAnywhere Emulex software but not in Snapdrive or DSM. Not only that, but I see each lun 4 times, which means the pathing/masking/igrouping is correct. I can also see all 8 drive paths as drives listed in device manager, but there is nothing in Disk Management. Has anyone seen this or know what direction I should go in? I have a call with Netapp escalated to engineering, but I thought I would also reach out to some real experts here! F85 and F330 available for free

We have two working systems that we need to dispose of: 1. One is an F85 running DOT 6.5.5R1 with a 100GB volume. 2. The other is an F330 running DOT 5.3.7R3 with an 18GB disk shelf. Both units come with complete documentation sets, but both also need a new NVRAM battery. The recipient would need to pay for shipping. LTO4 usage?

I did some searching and I couldn't find any information about LTO4 support in OnTAP. I'm just doing some investigation on some possible drive purchases. Before I call netapp, has anyone else checked to find when LTO4 support might be expected? Anyone using LTO4 with OnTAP today? David, The "ONTAPI" referred in the mail below is actually Manage ONTAP SDK product. Manage ONTAP SDK provide set of interfaces for developing third party integrations to manage NetApp storage. The SDK provide interfaces in C, Java and Perl languages. SDK can manage NetApp storage running ONTAP 6.3 and above. Manage ONTAP SDK is currently used by numerous partners and customers to tightly integrate into their own tools and applications with NetApp storage systems. The SDK can be downloaded from SDK portal( http://now.netapp.com/cgi-bin/manageontap ). The access to this portal is restricted. NetApp customers can request access to SDK through their NetApp sales representative. cifs terminate username?

(OnTap 7.0.5) From time to time our admin procedures mean that we have to move someone's home directory from one qtree to another. (I'd rather this didn't happen, but it's one of those things we have to live with for the time being...) Inevitably, on some occasions a CIFS session for such a user is active at the time of the move. So if, the morning after the move, they simply pick up from where they left off the previous evening, their new data is still going into their old area. (This probably happens one every week or two on average.) What we're looking for is something like: cifs terminate username that we could employ to kill off the CIFS session(s) for a given username. (Such killing of potentially active (usually dormant) sessions is (while not ideal) nevertheless usually far preferable to picking up the pieces of two diverging home directories in the following days.) But there doesn't seem to be any such "cifs terminate username". There is a "cifs sessions username", whose output is intended for humans, not machines, so is not easily amenable to reliable machine-parsing. So it is not really suitable for then reliably deriving workstation names for OnTap's existing "cifs terminate workstation" command. Any thoughts on how to achieve "cifs terminate username" functionality? Clustered heads with SATA disk shelves?

One item that I've researching that is a bit unclear, is that, can I can connect a SATA disk shelf (DS14mk2 AT) to a clustered set of FAS960 heads? I think there is no problem. I assume that you must use the AT-FCx modules, as they are dual-looped. I suspect that the the AT-FCx is mandatory for clustering (as opposed to the AT-FC) , but NOW seems a bit vague, at least according to what I was able to find. Also, I've heard rumors that connecting SATA shelves to a cluster is not really reliable. I was a bit taken a back, as NetApp as the SATA shelves have been out for a while. Is this really the case?
