Data Ontap "downgrade"

Hi All Maybe is a simple question for most of you but I've never done before and I want to be sure J I'm going to revert a 6030HA from 7.2.3 to 7.2.2 for Snapmirror (bidirectional) compliance to another 6030HA system already running 7.2.2 I've seen times ago a similar operation performed from a 7.2 to a 7.1 and I remember some special command to apply after the unzip/download phase of the preceding Data Ontap release. Is it so? I mean, there are special commands on cli or should I simply unzip the 7.2.2, living them the "download" command and a reboot as an "upgrade"? Or is there something other. My 6030HA is a NEW system, no volumes or other aggregate other that the aggr0/vol0 for the os Regards

But you don't need that to just go from 7.2.3 to 7.2.2. Simply download and reboot will do it. Davin. httpd.access -- number of entries

Hi Toaster, we currently have a problem with API access to the filers. We use options httpd.access and httpd.admin.access for enabling hosts for filer's API-control. We now use the API for several issues e.g. the save of our databases. Sadly we found out that there is a limit for these options as it is for trusted.hosts. You can only add a fixed number of entries to these options. I know that we are able to activate a whole subnet for accessing, but this is some how a security problem in my opinion. Has anyone a good idea how to deal with that situation?? Or has anybody knowledge if this restriction will be gone in future ontap releases?? Best regards and a nice weekend to the list Jochen

Snapvault and lrep_reader/writer

Hi all, Does anyone else here do SnapVault across the WAN across a long wide link (dual T3, 90+ msec delay) and get decent performance, esp for the initial copy of the volume(s) and/or qtree(s)? We've gone the route where I did an lrep_reader dump of a 3.8tb qtree (don't ask...) to local disks. Then I used a nice tool called 'bbcp' to push it all across the WAN so that I could actually *use* all my bandwidth. Regular SnapVault sucks for performance, it just can't push more than 15mb/s which stinks when you have dual T-3 (90mb/s) bandwidth. Using bbcp I can fill that pipe for days on end. So then once it's all across the WAN, I then used lrep_writer to dump the data to it's destination qtree. All fine and good, but then I have to start a regular snapvault to now catchup with all the data written during the 8+ days the first stage took. Sigh... Anyone know if I can lrep_reader/lrep_writer the next snapvault snapshot across as well, so I can push the data faster? Because each time the link goes down between the sites, I have to start all over again with the catchup snapvault transfer and it's killing me. Also, I'd love to be able to *know* how much data is left to copy from the source to the destination, but "snapvault status -l ...." doesn't give that sort of information. Or do I need to start using the 'snap delta' command and my own math to figure out things? V-series metrocluster (v3020c) on top of a 2-site EMC Clariion CX3-40 or HDS USP-VM?

Hi, We are in the process of selecting a v-series NetApp cluster, which will act as an iSCSI/NFS/CIFS NAS gateway with an EMC Clariion CX3-40 or HDS USP-VM providing the backend storage. It's residing in 2 datacenters with transparent vlan's between the two locations. The v-series will be configured as metrocluster, and will use SyncMirror on top of some dumb lun's as offered on each location by the respective CX3-40 or USP-VM of that location. There is some FUD surrounding me that this is a less than ideal situation (both stability and performance). Does anyone in the field have any experience with such a clustered HA setup? We are currently using VirtualIron which supports LiveMigrate. This requires that the LUN not change, it does not copy the storage data. Thanks however, take care. FW: Authentication Error

Hi, just for understanding...do you have problems with accessing the vol0 from the windows host?? If yes, then first check if you use domain-auth or local one. The problem I have is these LUNs are for running VM's and our customers would not be so accepting of the downtime involved. If there is any way of doing this without user downtime then that has to be the path for us. Really we need OnTAP GX with NFS based storage for the local disks of the VM's however that is a little while away in the environment we are using, maybe in our next cluster ;) Take care
