NetApp 760 SCSI - SE?

Anyone know whether the built-in SCSI adapter on NetApp 760's are SE or HVD? Assuming for the age, probably SE, but wanted to be sure... Daniel, You might want to consider using SnapVault and Open Systems Snap Vault agent for Windows in addition to the other option of using NDMP Windows Java client to do the migration. http://netapp.com/products/software/snapvault.html http://now.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/software We have used NDMP Windows 2K Java client running, of course, on a W2K AS server to migrate around 1 TB of data from a F760 to a FAS250 with no problem. This requires scripting and batch file to automate the procedure. Snapshots are not migrated in this manner. There is a minimum Data ONTAP version requirement related to either inclusion or version of NDMP server needed I recall. If you can work with your Net App Sales account execution, you might be able to get a temporary SnapVault license and the OSSV agent for Windows to carry out data migration from Windows 2K servers to a Net App filer/near-store unit. We have used OSSV in different occasion to migrate/consolidate from half to 1+ TB of data each time from DAS (direct attached storage) in W2K AS servers to a different R200 each time with no problem. windows data migration tool(s)

Hi, We are currently undergoing a large migration to netapp filers across the company and our windows IS team has hit some snags. Basically they have a number of various standalone arrays and need to transfer large amounts of files/data to the new netapp volumes but their manual copy methods have always failed especially when encountering corrupt files that may be in various users directories. Is there a windows NDMP client or similar they could use to directly transfer files to the filer without going through the smb/cifs layer? Forgive me if its obvious, I live on the Unix side of the house :) Thanks in advance

Is burt 155441 a show-stopper?

It's a real pain not having a spare filer to test things on ... I was hoping that all the quota-related nasties (153377, 154530) were well and truely fixed now and that I wouild be able to upgrade from 6.5.4 to 7.0.1R1(maybe P<something>) later this month. But then this appears on NOW: Bug ID 155441 Title: cp -p, chown, chgrp may erroneously fail due to "Disk quota exceeded" Description: If the default user or group quota for a volume or qtree is set lower than the size of the file whose permissions are being set, the command will fail due to an incorrect assertion that it would put the user over quota. This problem does not manifest when the command is executed by root. I am assuming that this is Yet Another Bug new in ONTAP 7.x, as AFAIK we have never seen the effect, and it seems to me we would surely be liable to. Specifically, we have a zero default quota in our /home qtree: * user@/home 0 0 101 user@/home 80M 8000 102 user@/home 210M 8000 ... specifically intended to lock out unallocated uids, special uids that aren't meant to be using /home, cancelled accounts, and so on.
