Mounting root directory via NFS

I'm having a problem mounting the root directory on a Sun / Solaris host. NFS is up a running & I can mount / access other directories with a problem, but not the root directory. Both the Sun host & the Filer are on the same network. I'd like to second that question: we used snapmirror to copy a vol of 18's to 7x72 on a ds14, but it hasn't been attached to the production filer yet. Remote shutdown of a filer

We have a (NT hosted) script that hits all the NT/2k servers and also telnets to the Sun server and "INIT 5"'s them. Hunted around NOW site, and Google groups, but to no avail. Anyone got a means (either from NT/2K or Sun) to automatically remotely (but cleanly!) stop/halt the Filer. And can you power it off that way too? No users will be operational (no UPS for the user community) so managing remote connections is not a concern. VIF state broken, 5.3.7R3 on F540

Hi! We've got 2 F540 filers, one running Data ONTAP 5.3.4, the other Data ONTAP 5.3.7R3 (latest version for F540). I'm trying to set up both filers with VIF multi (trunking) for faster network connection on a Cisco 3548 switch. On 5.3.4 everything working just fine following SAG. I recommend using NDMPCopy. It is non disruptive since it uses a Dump & Restore to disk, the process can be done on-line. If you are doing it on the same filer you might notice some CPU taxation, but nothing to serious. You can also use the Incremental NDMCopy features to accommodate gradual migration. If you need to use Qtrees you can use NDMPCopy to copy to Qtrees within the Destination Volume, just make sure you Create the Qtrees prior to starting the NDMPCopy. You can start 4 NDMPCopy processes concurrently.
