To the best of my knowlege , this is a documented feature which we support.
Hopefully it's something you never *NEED*. But since we often have PSE's installing the hardware for our customers, we wanted to make the full blown diagnostics available to them in case things went awry at the customer site. It can be horribly frustrating to be there ready to install something only to find that you don't have the diagnostic disks with you or to find that the diagnostic disks are corrupted.
We had a ton of space in the flash memory for the f8xx series, so we decided to put the diagnostics in there. Now if can just convince my boss to let me implement and release an ascii based Quake engine in forth....:)
