RSH problem on NT 4.0

Hi! I have problems performing RSH from specific servers. This is from NT 4.0 SP6. The first RSH goes OK, the second one hangs. Every time! If a wait some time between RSH command it works OK. This is Exchange server. I tried it from five diferent servers and workstations and they all work fine. I'd like to run batch to delete old snapshot, rename and create new. ndmp ops timestamps are wrong.

hi, we are running tests for legato and i noticed that the timestamps for ndmp messages on the filer console and in the ndmp log are exactly 7 hours earlier than they should be. the timestamps on the filer console for other ops are correct. tz on filer is est5edt. any ideas. thanks. --

The filer will periodically fail to respond to RSH from a pc running NT 4.0 SP6. This is due to TCP ISN (Initial Sequence Number) used by NT 4.0 SP6. This bug has not been observed in some earlier NT 4.0 service packs, or in Windows 2000. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not but thought I would mention it since I see people mentioning the "cifs sessions" command. We have clustered 840's twice when the command was run it locked up the filer head and sent us into failover. Uros, A problem has been detected with some changes in rsh code in NT4 SP6. Please refer to the following article for Microsoft hotfix. Q243835 How to Prevent Predictable TCP/IP Initial Sequence Numbers http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q243/8/35.asp <http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q243/8/35.asp> We have added a workaround for this issue from our side, and this can be handled by a kernel patch (will be added to one of our next releases by default) which you can track thru bug number 33682. The best for you though would be to apply the Windows hotfix than to change anything on the filer.
