Hey Hannes, I actually didn't look up the referenced Bug ID (until now) but I guess it may have affected earlier versions of OnTap too (e.g., 6.0.1)? netapp, NT domains, unix security

We are having trouble accessing a cifs share (with ntfs security style) from a Sun box. An F720, (6.0.1R3) exists in an NT "resource" domain that is trustING. The trustED master domain (with all user account information) is called "dwkcb". There is a One-way trust between domains ie. we don't trust the resource domain. (Don't ask why its a long story.) A cifs share is called "test_ntfs" with ntfs security style. From a Sun box as walt a cd into it gets permission denied. NDMP software ?

Hi I'm trying to use two NDMP software to backup our filer ( 85 ) on a HP DLT8000 autoloader the dump and restore commands are working fine the two softwares are Netbackup and HP omniback 4.0 I'm a little bit confuse with the Netbackup software documentation and the omniback software seems not working ( first NDMP release ) It would be gread to have some help from the list to have some infos about it ( reply directly to me ) thanks for any answer. -- Frank Bonnet

NDMP fast access restore / direct access restore

Hi toaster, We are looking for the Ontapp version which would well support the "fast access restore" functionnality. By this, I mean, a way to restore files without being obliged to read the end of the tape where ACL usually remain. Do someone is awarded of this functionality ? Is it the same than Direct Access Restore ? Which version wouldyou advise me to use on a F740 machine ? In looking at now.netapp.com search & bugs, and I noted as relevent 537R3 and 611R2 but the costumer would like a 'real' stable version like 537R3; as the 611R2 will be soon replace by the 612, I can't advise him this version. What's your opinion on that ? What is the first version supporting at 100% the DAR functionnality (if it is the same as "fast access restore"). Fanku much by advance -

Hi Neil, This particular issue is related to Legato Networker 6.1. They do not set the EXTRACT_ACL ndmp environement variable to T. The default value for that variable is F. That was causing the restore for ACLs to fail. The fix for *this* issue requires the customer to set this variable in the legato GUI configuration. If you need any more information on how to set this, please let me know. I opened an eCase with NetApp about this. It is a known bug with OnTap 6.1.1R2. I brought this issue up with our on-site NetApp Systems Engineer and his suggestion was to wait for the release of OnTap 6.1.2, which allegedly, is extremely imminent! First, you need to set the NDMP Client Environment Variable "EXTRACT_ACL" to TRUE. The variable currently defaults to FALSE.
