Mark, We are backing up a snapshot directory. We see random results. Depending on the run, between 6 and 15 subdirectories underneath a group directory are simply skipped. No errors reported. People tell me (I have to take their word for it - I'm not familiar enough with the product) that Omniback doesn't like to back up files that are open, so anyone with their Outlook, Word, or Excel apps open with files being edited over night are probably being missed. That theory is pretty easy to test - see what files aren't being backed up. James.

SNMP counter - integer overflow?

Hello, I am monitoring nfs ops/sec in a F760 filer using MRTG, but the value that I am getting from the last few days are in "negative". I believe it happened an overflow in the integer type used to hold this data, right? Look: [root@foo /root]# snmpget filer-e0.terra.com.br public .1.3.6.1.4.1.789.1.2.2.1.0 enterprises.789.1.2.2.1.0 = -1281161705 I know I can fix this by rebooting the filer. But I don't want to do that. This is a F760 with Ontap 5.3.6.R2. It has a lot of traffic. ;-) Does anyone here knows of a solution to this problem? alternative to ApplianceWatch

I am in search of a application to monitor two F760s. ApplianceWatch can monitor the filers but it runs on HP OpenView. However, I don't have a test environment with OpenView at the moment. You should probably back up from a snapshot, which avoids open file issues. Tim, No, we are not doing NFS backups. We have an NT box as a trusted host and the NetApp disks appear as shares on that NT box (which is also the NT server with the tape drives attached. This is the same model as for Unix. Now, when I do the backups, I am essentially backing up an NT box, so all ACL's are preserved. The only problem is that Omniback seems to skip about 25% of the data, with no error messages or anything. Using the regular Backup software that comes with NT works fine. Seen anything like this? Toasterians, I am in a processes of configuring veritas Netbackup on NetApps Filers (840's) and unable to do that. The problem is that Netbackup doesn't allow me to start two jobs at a time. If it schedules on job, the other job stays queued and waits for the earlier job to finish. Can anybody suggest a solution. Veritas Netbackup ver 3.2 with patch and NDMP pack.
