We are currently running 7.2.4 on a pair of 3040 filers and considering upgrading if there are reduplication improvements, but currently we don't have any panics or known problems. Are the waters safe with 7.2.6.1 or 7.3.1 lately, I haven't heard any complaints in a few months? Anything to watch out for?
I've done the bump from 7.2.4P5 to 7.3.1P2 on our two 3040 clusters and a stand alone 3040. No issues or scary bugs to report so far. A couple annoyances with the 7.2.x train have completely gone away (issues with netgroup and multistore, mbufs, dedupe glitches, and the notorious quota problems with 7.2.5) I haven't seen those at all.

Personally, I'm waiting for this one to cook a little longer (safely hiding behind 7.2.5.1p6). If you're already running 7.2.6 I'd say there isn't a lot of downside for you to upgrade, in fact I'd recommend it as there are some pretty nasty panic situations that might affect you. (see below)

- Bug ID 318070: This affects only FAS270 systems with expansion
shelves using ESH4 modules and where there are issues or configuration changes with those shelves. This results in a panic of the FAS270 storage controller.
- Bug ID 324637: Under some circumstances, if a file with Windows
NT ACL (access control list) is opened for overwrite by a CIFS client on a storage controller, it can cause a panic. This requires a high load on the system for quotas to be enabled, and for a Windows NT ACL to be associated with the file that is opened for overwrite by a CIFS client. Due to the high load, the Windows NT ACL buffer could potentially be recycled before it is used, leading to a panic.

It is GD but wanted to get some feedback - I had a lot of problems with 7.2.6 but it resolved my backup pains so I didn't down grade.
