I also take a configuration dump on the Filers before and after Ontap upgrades:
config dump BEFORE.TXT config dump AFTER.TXT config compare BEFORE.TXT AFTER.TXT
If your using vFilers the command also needs to be run for each of those. It has highlighted a few unexpected changes to options during Ontap upgrades.
I also use the configuration manager in Oncommand Core to monitor if options change and push options to multiple Filers and vFilers. It's not perfect but pretty good for basic monitoring.
