Hi James,
To modify the snapvault relationship to new destination, you may follow below steps:
* Login to DFM server and open command prompt
* Identify the relationshiop in the dataset which needs to be updated using below command:
Eg: U:>dfpm relationship list | findstr "string_to_match"
403002 snapvault 894268 <DatasetName> <SourceFilerName>:<SourceVolPath> <DestinationFilerName>:<DestVolPath> No
* Make note of destination volume name from above command
* Run ""dfpm datatset relinquish <destination_relationship_id or name>"".
Relinquish will move this relationship under External Relationships
Eg: U:>dfpm dataset relinquish <DestinationFilerName>:<DestVolPath>
Relinquished relationship (403002) with destination DestVol (403001)
* Go to NMC Application
* Under ""Data"" -> ""External Relationships"", verify that both the relationships (new & relinquished) should be showing External
(It may take some time for volume to come under External Relationships, to refresh it manually use command ""dfm host discover <hostname>"".
Hostname would be the snapvault destination filer)
* If the new volume is on same filer, then rename the original volume to old & new volume to original:
vol rename <Original_Volume> <Oringinal_volume_old>
vol rename <Original_Volume_New> <Original_Volume>
* Verify under External Relationships that names changed or not (again discover the host to update it instantly)
* Modify the respective ""Dataset"" from NMC
* Highlight the Dataset, click on Edit, click on ""Physical Resources"" under Primary, remove the source volume from RHS, click Next & Finish.
* Highlight the Dataset, click on Edit, click on ""Physical Resources"" under Backup, remove the old destination resource from RHS, click Next & Finish.
* Go to ""External Relationships"" under Data. Select the relationship with original name (the other one would be with _old extension), Right click on it &
select Import, click Next, Select appropriate Dataset, click Next, If there are mor similar relationships to import then Check Mark ""Show Similar
Relationships"" at bottom left, Select appropriate Source & Destination pairing by check marking, else leave this option Click Next, Preview & Click Finish.
* Verify the status of Dataset Conformance. It should show ""Comformant"" state."
* Wait for next Snapvault job to trigger from scheduled backup jobs. Monitor its status and take action accordingly.
* Offline the old volume, Destroy the old volume once you have monitored that backups are completing fine to new volume from scheduled jobs
* If new volume was created on different filer, then get the new volume added and old volume removed from tape/disk backp schedule
Regards Manish

Hi list,
We've recently upgraded our Exchange install from 2007 to 2013. As part of this I did a fresh install of SME 7.1.1 on the new mailbox server, which created a new dataset. With all the user data migrated off the off the old mailbox server, I now have a dataset full of archive information. Is there any way to keep it around in case I ever need to restore from it with SMBR, but uninstall Exchange from the mailbox server? Will SME still keep the backup information in that case? Could I maybe just reinstall the management tools?
Also, I unmounted the LUNs, moved the volumes to a SATA disks on a different filer using SnapMirror, updated the SnapVault relationship and remounted the LUNs, which worked fine. The dataset itself didn't recognise this update however, and now it's complaining it can't create relationships. Can I just delete the dataset from DFM? Will that delete the data or leave it around?
Thanks,
