Given that this is not a NetApp "sanctioned" list, I would think that they may not want to give the appearance of such (by hosting archives, etc). That might give the impression that this is a legit support source
That's essentially correct, though the issue is that by hosting it, some people would feel that it is less open, that we are trying to control the discussions. We think there's value to a forum in which our users can exchange information, good and bad, without interference or influence from us.
Hopefully anyone who owns a NetApp product already knows what the official support channels are.
(even though NetApp personel have been most helpful/vocal).
