In our environment we network boot our servers which then have their FSes on filers. It would be really neat if the filer could act as a dhcp/tftp server so we could elimintate the unix boxes doing that. Yeah yeah, I know it goes against the filer philosphy but you have to admit it would be neat.
Inasmuch as TFTP is just a another file transfer protocol, it would make sense that a filer could easily support it. I wonder how large the market demand is for such a feature, though.
However, in case you misunderstood, what was being talked about was the filer itself being able to TFTP boot from OS files from elsewhere on the network. (Although, who's to say that couldn't be another filer? That way you kill two birds with one stone.)
