Running all of ours without snapdrive. If you have standard and static configurations with only small scale or "niche" implementations, it works a treat.
Snapdrive can assist if you are planning a lot of LUN manipulation. i.e. snapshots of LUNS, Changing mappings between hosts, drives etc.
Or if you are "dumbing" it down for simpler and scalable administration, Snapdrive is a good value proposition. Essentially it should help to keep operations costs down, one of the strongest drivers for any centralised storage implementation.
If you have a very dynamic environment with many hundreds of hosts, I think there are better storage platforms than NetApp with more scalable software "suites".
