Be careful when you upgrade to CommVault 9, it has a nasty bug with NDMP backups if you are using a Solaris 10 on x86_64 as Media Agent. We got bit, even though we had waited to upgrade to 9SP3b, it only got fixed in Service Pack 4b I think. In any case, lots of bugs with Media Agents running on Solaris 10 x86_64. Sigh...
I'm still not wild about CommVault as software. Way to point and clicky to me, and hard to get good reports out of. But I'm an old Networker user and I could make that tool sing. Never did run Networker with NDMP though.
In general though, I'd say that Networker 6.2.x was miles better. Faster restores, better media and library handling, and the indexing was quick and fast to search through. Maybe I just don't get CommVault yet...
As for Bacula, I use it at home, but not with NDMP, and the open source community edition doesn't support NDMP that I'm aware of. But I don't have a toaster at home to play with.
