Mats, If you just want to get rid of the annoying message, you can toy around in the /etc/sysconfigtab file. Find your hardware class (F760) and the card you're having problems with, and edit the allow lines. All you need to do is change the following lines to start with 8, rather than 4 or 7 (be sure to remove 8 from the unclustered X2040B line, just in case).
allow F760 X2040B 5 4,5,6,7,8,3,2,1 1 allow F760 X2040B 6 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 2
Of course, I'm sure NetApp would appreciate it if you just put the cards in the slots like they ask, but if they didn't want us to be able to make these changes, then why would they make it so easy to do?
