isn't it time for ftp to be better integrated in ontap?
we run nis and i can connect to any of our sun boxes and ftp from them. everybody has their ids in nis and the domain sam and it works fine.
this works on our filer for nfs and cifs, but apparently not for ftp. it would be great to NOT have to keep entrys in the filers /etc/passwd file.

Hi Dave,
For anonymous ftp access, then you only need one entry in the filers' /etc/passwd file, namely the "ftp::65534:65534::/path:" entry.
You should use a Unix qtree, since the files accessed must not have ACL's on them. However, you do not need an NFS license.
You will also need to enable ftpd: 'options ftpd.enable on'

I have a CIFS only filer (NO NFS installed) does anyone know how to get FTP working? I have looked at the archives and added a user to the filer but still cant get in via FTP.
