Greetings,
I need to change the hardware and OS for my current 3.7 DFM server. I've set up another box with the new OS and installed the 4.0.2 release. I have successfully imported (AFAIK) a copy of the old database. I am not the primary user of DFM and would like to have the primary user be able to do some testing and looking around before trying to make a more permanent switch. My concern is having 2 instances of DFM trying to run backups, purge snapshots, etc. The new host name is not listed in hosts.equiv and it doesn't have ssh keys on filers. There are no entries for the ndmp credentials.
Will having 2 of these online cause a problem? If so, what is the best way to have the second one online in more of a read-only/browse type mode?
For those who will ask, I'm not going straight to OnCommand yet because I don't know enough about it yet. There are also several packages that seem to only run on Windows, and some that mention only running on 32 bit OS and hardware. We are primarily a linux lab and I don't want to have to set up a Windows server or have to go to Goodwill and try to find a 32 bit server :-)
