We make extensive use of automount and each users home directory is mounted separately. With the .snapshot directory enabled, du and find recurse through the snapshot trees and in general this causes too many issues for our users, so we've disabled them.
Is there any more sophisticated way of making the snapshots available that won't cause this sort of problem (e.g. can we export the snapshots separately? make them available as a separate CIFS share?).
