Hello,
A question for anyone running clearcase in a mixed environment...
We have a PC domain and a UNIX domain. Each has users accessing clearcase. I have currently created the clearcase_abld user in the UNIX domain, and made him a member of a group. I have also created a clearcase_albd user in windows, and made a group with he same name as the UNIX group. However, I am told this is quite an unusual way of doing this, and a more normal approach is to create a user map in the Netapps usermap.cfg file which maps clearcase_albd to a user in the UNIX domain who will have right to the vobs etc.
Any one have any suggestions on the best approach?
Thanks
Simon

about the user mapping feature of the Netapp / 1/ if user is root or administrator of the domain the filer checks for some option to see if automapping fore admin is to enable : the option wafl.nt_admin_priv_map_to_root on (or off) will map the windows user admin of the domain to the unix user root for the reverse (unix root mapped to one admin of the domain) check the /etc/usermap.cfg file
2/ if a user meyou connect to the filer from a protocol, the Filer search automatically a user form the other protocol having the same name (meyou). this is the default mapping and as far as I know, u can't disable this feature unless dealing with the /etc/usermap.cfg file. it is a way to facilitate the file sharing among two world (if users have the same name). so you actually can do what you speak of in your mail. there is no problem
3/ you can use the usermap.cfg file to explicite all mapping not obvious for the Filer as described as example in the file.
