At my company we have done many host-based migrations, but I've never personally done one with Windows hosts -- only Linux, AIX, Solaris and HP/UX.
Still, it shouldn't matter what the underlying storage is. If your host has proper multipathing and logical volume support, you can present a second LUN, mirror it to the first, and detach/remove the first when done.

If that requires some work on the host system to set up a mirror or something like that inbefore I don’t care, I’d just like to see if that’s possible at all and what the experiences in this list are with NDR migrations of LUNs.

Unless something has changed, You can migrate nearly all data except LUN's (iscsi/fC).
Other tools/utilities must be used for iSCSI and FC LUN files.
(like a DTA or creating New LUNS on the Cluster and using some host-specific copy)

One of the ways to migrate iSCSI and FC LUNs is to use SnapMirror. Even if you don't have licenses, you can always obtain evaluation license.
