So, I've been working with our SE's on trying to pick a new release to which to upgrade. I've also been doing my own research with the Bugs Online part of the NOW site.
I either haven't figured out how it works, or the feature doesn't exist. If someone could tell me which one... :)
Starting at the Release Comparison Tool:
http://now.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/relcmp.on
I click on one release and enter another (not on the pre-determined list). I leave "fixes" set (I assume this means "bugs") and choose the checkbox "Filter Bugs to list of watched bugs." Then I click "go."
The result I get back is what confuses me. It only shows me 8 bugs. There are 47 bugs on my watch list. What about the other 39 bugs? Do I assume they are fixed in both releases (dangerous!)? Or, was there no state change of that bug in both releases (e.g., it is still *not* fixed in both releases)? It's ambiguous.
I really want to know the state of all my watched bugs in both these releases.
Feature enhancement request: The ability to get a table of my watched bugs for more than two releases.
Bug report (?): After getting the abovementioned list of 8 bugs, if I click the "arrow" icon to sort by severity, it will show me ALL the bugs in those releases (more than 8, more than 47... more like a few hundred), not just the pre-filtered ones (that checkbox is still checked when I click the sort arrow). I would expect it to sort only what is shown.
Until next time...
