BTW, did NetApp ever consider putting AFS on the Filers?
Excellent question! I keep asking NetApp every couple of years since about '94 for DFS and the answer, of course diplomatic, is a firm 'no' followed by "there is not enough market for DFS, NT will be our next target". So, how many out there or you know of will buy a NetApp/DFS protocol if it was available??? Understand, this question is being asked to the wrong audience. Most of 'toaster' list , I assume, are NFS & CIFS customers.

Do you mean: "does UNIX support ACLs"?
No, I just thought that I might have missed something as I was almost certain that NFS didn't support ACLs and that the NFS engineering group was considering putting ACLs in the new version (4 ?).
BTW, did NetApp ever consider putting AFS on the Filers? I don't know how much market there is for it, but I think most of the bigger educational institutions use it.
