Hi all,
we're experiencing this issue nevertheless we've applied the suggestion stated on "SnapManager for SAP 3.1 Administration Guide" (pag. 45)
"SAP uses a standard layout for Oracle database installations. In this layout, SAP places copies of the Oracle control file in the /oracle/SID/origlogA, /oracle/SID/origlogB, and /oracle/SID/sapdata1 file systems. The control file in the sapdata1 file system conflicts with the SnapManager requirements for separating the control files and datafiles into separate volumes and must be adjusted to allow for fast restore capability."
Has anyone some suggestion on it? It seems a well known error but we don't find documentation on it.

Knowing both N-Series and NetApp original one :-) I think I can answer. The N3600-A20 is a 2050 cluster. EXN4000 is the same as DS14MK4 (the "4" in the EXN4000 name stands for 4 Gbps). You have to find on the shelf two SFP (Gbic) connector plugged on the IN port of the two ESH4 controller. After all in the center of the shelf you have a selector that permit you to switch the backend speed from 1 to 4 Gbps (if limits to 2 you have an EXN2000). For the second EXN4000 depends on what you want. You can add to the first using the short 50 cm infiniband cable (out to in schema) or you can add to the second controller using 0b ports on boths.
You then have to plug an LC/LC fiber patch from the 0a HBA ports on the N3600 on both heads (A20 stands for active/active). And proceed with instructions...

Pardon the IBM-terminology -- I have an N3600 A20 (ONTAP 7.3.1) and have acquired two EXN4000's to expand our storage capacity.
The N3600 A20 is currently configured as Active/Active with the existing set of 20 SAS disks.
I'm reading through the documentation on NOW[1] on hot-adding shelves and am running into a few questions:
- Is the EXN4000 the same as the DiskShelf14mk4? - How do I know if I have ESH2/ESH4 modules or LRC or ESH modules?
Also, the NOW documentation[1] refers to the Data ONTAP 7.3 Active/Active Configuration guide for hot-adding of shelves since we are using an Active/Active setup. I presume these are the insructions I need to use and not the normal hot-add instructions[1].
Anything else of note I should be aware of?
