Jay, I am wondering if has to do with certain directories on the Netapp not being converted to Unicode? I know with Data Ontap 5.3 Unicode is implemented. I ran into a issue after upgrading to 5.3 in accessing NT directories under snapshots (post 5.3 snapshots). If I tried to go back into some NT directories in the snapshot, I received a error of something similar to "access is denied". I fond out you must touch all NT directories/files before they are converted to Unicode format after you upgrade to 5.3. To fix the problem, I mapped a drive to root on the filer and did a find on all of C$ to some file. This fixed my problem as all NT files were touched and converted to Unicode. Hope this helps, Mike

I had recently done an upgrade from 4.2a to 5.3.2r1, and now when it is backing up, Budtool reports :
09/13/99 09:31:46> DUMP: creating "/vol/vol0/../snapshot_for_backup.7" snapshot. 09/13/99 09:32:08>

09/13/99 09:32:09> DUMP: Date of this level 1 dump: Mon Sep 13 09:32:07 1999. 09/13/99 09:32:09> DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch. 09/13/99 09:32:09> DUMP: Dumping /vol/vol0/ to standard output
Last backup was a level 2 and it did the same (redid level 0). Can anyone tell me what's going on here?
