Actually Netchache was doing very well but since no competition was present the performance figures will not show if A or B was the best. My own opinion is that Netapp will present the figures but first do a thorough check to see if the competition will have an opinon why they didn't enter and if they will kill the outcome. Hence why didn't Inktomi, Cacheflow, etc enter?

Can anyone at Netapp tell us what happened with the ircache web cache bakeoff? Netapp attended and then declined to have their results published. Many other companies backed out as well, such as Cacheflow and IBM. Rumor has it that netcache was outperformed; was the benchmark unrealistic or did Netapp withdraw for other reasons?
