Hi All,
A word of warning - OnTap 5.1 with its full NT ACLs has some problems. From bitter and ongoing experience I wouldn't advise using it on a production filer.
Could you elaborate? What problems are you having?
filer panics every few mins when CIFS is running. I understand from netapp that it's a problem with the NT ACLS being written to the wrong volume (I'm running two volumes, but only one actually has NT ACLs applied in it) I would have thought that multiple volumes was a pretty obvious thing to check for in QA.
Also there's a quotas problem that panics the filer when you do a quota resize. Quota on/off is ok though.
These problems aren't in the bug lists on NOW yet.
Are you running 5.1R1?
I'm now running 5.1D3 (debug release) which apparantly fixes the above problems, but I may have a corrupt file system. (paniced due to an assertion last night during backup). I'm running wacky later this evening on the advice of Netapp support to see what's wrong and they have 5 core files to sift through as well. (2 for the quotas problem, 2 for the NT ACL problem and one for file panic probably due to a corrupt file system)
Frightened yet? 8-)
You using CIFS heavily Graham?
Regards, GB.
Graham
